Hoodoo Tarot Reading

What is hoodoo?

Hoodoo is a derivative of the word Voodoo which means "spirit of God". Actuality, voodoo practices were created to help heal and protect. Its origin began in Africa and later bought to New Orleans, Louisiana. Over time the term "voodoo" was daunting for those who enslaved Africans and Native Americans, so it was changed to "hoodoo". Although it all still means the same.

"New Orleans is now and has been the hoodoo capital of America. Great names in rites that vie with those of Hayti in deeds that keep alive the powers of Africa. Hoodoo or Voodoo, as pronounced by the whites, is burning with flames in America, with all the intensity of a suppressed religion."

- Zora Neale Hurston
